hybrid vehicle or tribrid
« on: December 29, 2009, 06:02:03 PM »

a quadricycle for one sighted person and one blind person plus trailer for the seeing eye dog.

the smaller wheels are the front and for the pilot the rear facing seat for the impaired sight person and the rear trailer  for the dog.
the solar panel supplies charging power to the li fe po4 lithium iron phosphate batteries and the combination is fed to the electric motor.
 .
the solar panel on top charges the batteries as they pedal along.
the batteries of this sort really like it as the like small charges and discharges  with a long life of 3000 plus.

on down hills the regenerative  power from the electric motor also charges the batteries.
in effect it evens out any hills encountered and makes life very easy for the passengers.
the electric power also is available for other uses. :-D
so this is
a tri brid  electric power, dual pedal power, solar power,(ie nuclear power from the sun)

the owners are touring the country  and i wish them god speed

:1st: Impressive! And it's so cute! Do the riders also pedal if they choose? Did you buy the panel or build it from cells?

a friend of mine put the panels on it so that the sun will power it when there is no power to plug in.
i found a picture of it  from some 10 years ago when the man partner was still partially sighted and they pedaled around the country  so 10 years later they try it again but with a seeing eye dog as well.
the lady is in front and the man is in the rear where they both pedal and get assistance up the hills from the electric motor.

You've been creating and modifying such eco-friendly vehicles for a long time, haven't you? You could be a rich man by now and the world a nicer place if it weren't for the greedy, powerful oil companies. People are very angry in the U.S. about the Gulf oil spill, angry enough I hope to change things big time. Not in 20 years, but now. Everything changed relatively fast in the Industrial Age. It wasn't easy, but it happened. It's time to end the Oil Age! (That's what I think, anyway.) Terri

According to the International Energy Agency, an extended global moratorium on new offshore drilling areas could cut the world's offshore production by as much as 900,000 barrels per day. It would take less than five years to happen.
In the Gulf of Mexico, up to 300,000 barrels of oil per day could be lost if new projects are delayed. At the very least, we can count on that lost oil from the Gulf of Mexico.
Unfortunately, it's not just the deepwater oil that we're losing each year.
Past the peak
We know that U.S. oil production isn't teetering on the brink of collapse — it is collapsing.
This shouldn't come as a surprise to us.
If it does, then you might be new around here.

next 2 years will see a huge change in attitude what i tried 30 years ago is now forced on the world
the peak of cheap oil is over
a barrel of oil  i think is the 44 gallons size so they talk in barrels and the public think in pints or litres.
so the spill is immense  just wait till a hurricane hits the drilling  rig trying to drill to stop the spill.

By 2012, surplus oil production capacity could entirely disappear, and as early as 2015, the shortfall in output could reach nearly 10 million barrels per day..."
It's rare that the U.S. military takes such a vested interest in energy affairs. But the fact that they have only shows how serious the situation is becoming.
Consider this: A 10 million barrel daily shortfall by 2015 almost equals the amount of oil the U.S. imports from foreign sources every day right now.
That almost assures that we could never continue to consume as much crude as we do. It would simply be impossible to keep up the pace...
