How to Invent
« on: May 06, 2008, 09:27:43 AM »
I've just joined the Forum.  I've read some of the threads under this Topic.

Is there anyone that can tell me what to do next when you have ideas that you would like to bring to reality?   I guess all inventions start with an Idea, then a basic design but what next?  You need to do marketing & you need to see a Patent Lawyer?

marketing is the big one.
a sound business plan is always the result of a sucessfull invention.
Its like if you can make a great scotsmans sporran for $500  then you will never sell them.

my latest invention is a left hand accelerator for the wife as she has a paralized left leg.
while i was at it i realised that i could make the action logrithmic instead of lineal.
--The first movement of the pedal has a slow movement of the accelerator cable but as soon as the pedal movement goes past a certain point the linkage to the accelerator is moved faster.
this means that during slow manouvering  the car has better controll but for acceleration to get away fast the pedal has to be moved only a little more.

It is attached to the rubber mat and can be shifted a little each way to suit her.
convential right hand acelerators could also be made to do the same but i could see huge obstacle in certification and resistance to change frfom motor companies.
with me if i need some thing i make it but  what is essential to me is rare for others.
if you have a low volume invention then sell one and keep the recipt and that will stop any one from patenting it and stopping you from selling it even though they will also be selling it.
however you have the first in and money for business plan and not the huge patent costs.
patents are a way for all the world to know and copy your idea with a little twist.

especially if it is a good seller.
i am happy to help you any way i can  just PM me if you want to talk sensitive stuff
like how to / what do you think of this idea/can you figure a way etc.

see you around
you can try  the impossible now  but miracles take a little longer
