science fiction writing

came across this site
http://enphilistor.users4.50megs.com/cliche.htm
it describes all the hacked around boring sorts of plots etc? over used in sciencve fiction writing.
my own opinion is to make a story as near to realistic as possible and then the reader can go along with you in a believable manner and their imagination can be fired up when they sort of say to them selves they are there alongside the writer.

you can try  the impossible now  but miracles take a little longer

Had a look... probably agree with most of the ratings... that's not to say I haven't used some of the awful ones myself from time to time
I'd like to think it doesn't really matter, as long as the reader enjoys the ride... :|

i saw a unusual film plot where the royal family in england were wiped out and the only heir to the throne was some idiot from america who really messed things up in england.

vaguely i thought it was familiar and  it should be.
a cousinn about 7 th who was a farmer in NEW Zealand was rung up  from england and the head of the family estate there(piers-- now you know where my nick comes from) had died and  he was to inherit the family estate.(the south peninsular to entrance to plymouth harbour)
and to cut a long story short he went there made a mess and the estate is now in government hands as a tourist attraction.
so good plots that are original are hard to find and real life some times has the clues for a good one.
