Henry and the robot

My name is Henry I am 5 years old and I live in a cottage next to my grand dads workshop.
Its been raining most of the last 2 weeks and we have been hearing noises from grand dads shed all the time.
Today was really fine and warm and we were allowed out side so off to see what grand dad was doing.
You know I think he is just like the crazy scientists I see in the comic books he makes the most interesting things.
I peeped into his workshop and there was a huge robot standing there it was as big as granddad and it had all sorts of levers and motors on it.
Grand dad reached up to pat it on the back and said its alive you know,- silly grand dad robots are not alive- then the robot waved its arm at me wow this is cool then he pressed another button and its legs worked just like a real person.
I just have to have a go at this but the buttons are too high for me so grand dad put a chair beside the robot and I was able to really work it.
First it waved its hand and silly granddad was in the way and the hand wopped him on the head so he scolded the robot for doing that.    I pressed the other button and the legs began to move and they nearly kicked the chair I was standing on.
I had a lovely time pressing buttons and making the robot work. Now wonder granddad thinks its alive it really looks like it is.
Later this afternoon after lunch granddad asked us if we wanted to go to the park and wow he had the robot attached to the back of his scooter and some cool buttons to push on his lap.
The robot waved to me to come with him to the park- he cant talk yet but you never know what will happen one day..
When we got to the park grand dad let me drive the scooter.
There were some people there and they were amazed at seeing the robot walking behind the scooter and waving to them.
Some tourists were there and they just could not believe their eyes as they saw the robot and I having a lovely time.
They politely asked me if they could take some movies of me and the robot as their friends would never believe they saw a small boy being pushed around the park by a personal robot.
Back home and the robot is back in the workshop and golly gosh and gee whiz what will granddad come up with next.

I like the way Granddad and Henry relate and the choice of words in their dialog.  A very warm and charming story!  Nicely unified, too, from beginning to end.  Good story!  Terri
