Topic: How to get off a traffic ticket

I owned an old bomb of a car it was vintage before I brought it and it was for ever needing major repairs.
    This day I had to get some new bolts to attach the body to the car and  well it was still mobile and able to get me to town some 3 miles away and yes it was not really a road worthy car at the time but, well cops don’t ever come this way  much.

 So off I drove down to the local hard ware shop and purchased 6 coach bolts to make the car body secure to the chassis.
   Just my luck that on the way back a cop was escorting a house moving transporter and as he knew where I might live I was just a little apprehensive that I would soon get a visit.
Well I raced home and put the bolts in the body and secured the body to the chassis and was just finishing when sure enough the cop turned up.
As my car was very rare the only one in the country,  it was pretty obvious who it was driving to town in it.
So I got a ticket for   ‘not displaying a warrant of fitness certificate’ about the only offence he was able to give me under the circumstances.

So with a carefully worded letter to the senior traffic officer and a reference number for the existing warrant of fitness and a reference number of a brand new one I eventually got off the ticket.

So what was I doing at the time?
I was driving the car with no body on the car, the chassis had a loose plank across it with a box perched on it 
No window screen (no warrant of fitness displayed)
 No bonnet and no petrol tank just a wine bottle tied to the steering column and a hose to the carburetor
Well it moved.

I was so relieved that the senior traffic officer did not ask the issuing cop  what exactly I was doing to get the ticket
