time travel

Time traveler

In Switzerland there are dotted around the countryside many villages? approximately one km apart separated by wide roads and hills.
Each village has it mandatory town clock and they are all very precise and sound off their bells every hour
It was mid day and I was sitting in an open top car? half way between two villages
.
Suddenly both villages clock?s each side of me started to ring out the midday time, perfect synchronism.
Dinnertime!
So off I sped listening to the clocks as I went
See if I can get to the village before the stroke of 12
7-8-9
Whew getting there
10-11-12
Made it? --- hang on, 13!!!, Where did that come from??

The answer is time dilation I had at the speed of sound traveled slower in time relative to the distant clock and faster in time to the approaching clock.
Sound travels at 1024 feet per second and in the 12 seconds it took for me to get to the village I would have traveled 1024 feet? to get the two clocks out of sync by 1 second
1024/12? = 85.3 feet per second was my speed.
Each clock experienced time in its own frame.
I experienced time in my frame.
Yet the receding clock was slower to me and the approaching clock was faster to me so it appeared to have struck 12 sooner that the far clock and? thus I heard the far clock appear to strike 13 o?clock.

So what about the speed of light
Everything,? all matter is dependant on the speed of light?
Space to me is just a time, at the speed of light, between two objects, it is a measured in light speed time.
So if a space traveler is approaching at speed to a planet it will appear to speed up and you will observe it as rotating faster (but it is not)
The world you left will appear to slow down (but it is not.)
You will experience time as normal.
As you speed away the world will see you slow down (Doppler effect)
So two objects that approach each other at approaching the speed of light will in each other?s frame of time see each other approaching at the speed of light. Plus some more mass.
If they collide then their masses will also be greater than normal and the extra mass will be converted to an energy release equal to their normal mass plus the ?mass? accumulated with the kinetic energy associated with the difference in their speeds.

If they miss then their masses will be just the same relative to each other
If they are both going in the same direction and then touch there will be no difference in their masses
So time travel can only be observed and not experienced.
We can look back in time 10 billion years? and with some clever thinking look forward in time? and change our future.
And no paradoxes

Wow! Deja vu!!
I'm sure I've seen this before! :-o

Just messin' witcha, piersdad :-D

have you sorted out the 'side by side' orbit question yet?

I hope so, cos now you've got me bugged by it - and I still don't know...  :x

no just threw that one in to intregue and make some one aware of a possibility
much better that puting a theory up and heaps of gobblygook to try and prove some thing .
just throw an idea around and let it fester if it has any merit.

the ?mass? accumulated with the kinetic energy associated with the difference in their speeds.

the difference in mass would be something like a few pounds so it would be impossible to measure as the measuring instrument would also be effected.
how ever like gravity lenses this concept may one day be just the solution to finding out some thing and the person who uses this idea will be possibly a reader who saw my writings.
it may be 50 years later but the seeds of new discoveries are often long and slow to germinate

how true  :-)  theories are great, but ideas are what turns the wheels ... hey! you haven't got an 'idea' smilie!  little lightbulb instead of ???  :-)

So that when someone wants to post an idea... they can flag it with an 'idea smilie'  :-D

Or... someone might drop an idea in a thread ... and someone else can say "that's an idea!" >idea smilie<  :-D :-D

of course, that's just an idea.... :|

breaking the sped limit theoretically  at 60 mph  but actually just max open highway speed 50 mph
