Howdy Do!
« on: January 06, 2012, 11:35:51 AM »
Ah ha! I can post messages on my board.

So I suppose I had better give an explanation of the thing that have been happening since I stopped appearring.
In 2009 I became sick with a very sore stomach for a few months. Since then I have been gluten free (and hating parts of it). I have never felt so much better in my life for doing ty. in the same year I spent a month in Holland with family then came back and finished another year of school.

An annual writing competition called National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo for short) saw the creation of a 50, 000 word novel, in 30 days called Halo High. I have a great love for writing as it express thoughts and ideas that I manufacture in my head during times of boredom. However, I have always wanted to publish and share my crazy, or interesting ideas with others.

So, Since November of 2010, I have been striving to edit and design the cover of Halo High, as well as going to school as I'm pretty sure those of you who have followed me since I started on Storydad, I am a teenager.

November 2011 saw the birth of another novel, one that I think will be published next after Halo High is well away.

And so in December, despite still writing on my 2011 NaNoWriMo, Halo High was finally published and put onto Amazon.

As a family member pointed out, there are a few mistakes in the text but every writer has a few, especially in their first book.

So the reason for my username change is to support the author name I have put on Halo High.

Although Halo High is yet to worm its way into book stores (I will be excited if it does), today, it sits patiently on Amazon and my Createspace sales page.

For those who would like to read it, or read the first few pages of it, there is a link below to the Amazon page.

http://www.amazon.com/Halo-High-J-M-Dorsey/dp/1456473700/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1325042476&sr=1-1

However, if you are going to buy a copy, and thank you if you do, I would ask that you buy it throuch my Createspace page, where I get more royalties, for the same price. For those who live outside of America, like in little NZ, I apologise for the shipping fees; they do suck, don't they?

https://www.createspace.com/3531489

A warning to buyers; both sites require the user to login to buy a copy.

I hope you enjoy Halo High. I had fun playing with the characters and I tried to make them funny and entertaining. Be wary that it is for young teenagers to mid-teens.

Enjoy! I'll see you later with soeme short stories, hopefully.

Hi Jennifer! Just ordered a copy of your book Halo High. I'm looking forward to reading it. I also published through CreateSpace (Stronghold) and have entered their amazon contest again. I'm so happy you are continuing with your writing. Hope your book becomes a best seller! Terri from Arizona

my grand daughter (tracey 24ys old) has just finished the book and loves it she said it would be fantastic as a movie
can just imaging a halo (movie magic sort) of an ancient warrior guarding  the heroine with sword and club as a movie magic--  semi visible person-- would possibly make  Harrypotter  stand aside

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to Read!, March 3, 2012
By
Terri Mcintyre "Author of Stronghold"
This review is from: Halo High (Paperback)
This young adult novel is well-written and fun to read. Sixteen-year-old Safrina is a strong character, pretty and skilled in soccer, a game that makes her friends in her new school, Halo High, and an enemy, who turns out to be a challenge that helps her grow up. The setting for the story is a special high school for those gifted in seeing dead people, usually only one, but Safrina is highly gifted in that she can see more than one. Playfully, the author has chosen historical personalities who interact with each other, reminding me of Steve Allen's Meeting of Minds. Excerpt: "'Do we have a name for the fellow?' Casanova asked, his sword still pointed at Attila. 'Yeah, you're waving a sword at one of the greatest warriors, Attila the Hun,' Safrina said blandly. Casanova squeaked and quickly put his sword away."

Thank you so much for reviewing my book! I found the review on Amazon, rather than here but I was so happy to get 5 stars! I'm, not sure thatmy book deserves it but thank you nonetheless!!! Also, if you wouldn't mind Terri, would you mind sending me a message with any edits you think I could make in the book? ( I am aware that there might be a few issues).

Thank you so much!!!
